My how time flies, Katunga will celebrate his fourth birthday this year. It seems like it was yesterday he was just on a bottle and running around nipping at our  heels (he still does!).  He has grown so well and enjoys the exhibit and his favorite spot which overlooks the zoo fence. With all the runners and walkers in the park he loves to watch them as they pass by.  But his favorite pastime is watching the kids playing on the playground.  Leopards are solitary cats and use the same methods as the large cats to mark there territory.  Males can weigh up to 150 lbs and females up to 100lbs. There are over 15 sub species of leopards, and being one of the four Great cats they are the smallest.  These little felines can swim, run up to 40 mph and are capable of leaping 10ft straight up in the air and 20ft  across.  With powerful limbs and broad torso they can climb very well.  Katunga loves the snow, and enjoys the snow piles we make in the enclosure and play hide 'n seek.  Next time on your visit stop by and say "Hi" and see how well he has grown up.
