Field Trips

Self Guided Field Trips to the zoo are easy to arrange. Reservations must be made to take advantage of group discounts. Please call the Education office to make your reservation.

Guided Group Tours of the zoo are given by Education Staff and Zoo Docents. Tours include general information about the zoo and specific information about the animals and exhibits. Tours can be arranged for groups of any size and take approximately one hour.

Discovery Programs under the zoo tent include 5 or 6 animals, animal artifacts, and other educational materials. Many of the animals can be touched and individual questions will be addressed. Groups of 30 or fewer are best. Several sessions can be arranged for larger groups. Discovery Programs are approximately 40 minutes long.

Pond Exploration Programs focus on pond life. One hour sessions at pond side in Forest Park explore freshwater pond communities. Beavers, turtles, frogs, insects, snails, waterfowl, plants, and trees are featured.
