Discovery Programs

Discovery Programs are hands-on educational presentations that include live animals, artifacts and other educational materials. Groups of 30 or fewer are preferred. Sessions can be arranged for groups larger than 30. Discovery programs are approx. 30-45 minutes long and feature a variety of topics and age appropriate formats.

Pond Exploration Programs

Pond Exploration Programs focus on organisms found in and around our ponds. These one hour sessions are held right inside Forest Park. Children will meet live animals and take turns at “pond-dipping” to discover animals and plants that form our freshwater pond communites.

Scavenger Hunts

Scavenger Hunts are self-guided fun at Zoo. Age appropriate sheets are distributed at the front entrance upon arrival. Children learn about The Zoo animals and their habitats while enjoying nature at its best.

Self-Guided Visits

Self-guided visits and tours for groups or individuals are fun and easy to arrange. Information about the animals can be found on signs at each major exhibit and at our EduCart Learning Stations. (No additional fees for self-guided visits.)

Registration Forms

Forms can be emailed directly to our Education team or call to 413-733-2251 x305.

No field trip is booked without a completed contract on file.

Other notes:

Late Arrivals: During our open season, The Zoo hosts multiple programs a day. Due to this, programs will not be extended for groups that arrive after their scheduled arrival time. Educators will cover as much material as possible in the time remaining.

Weather Conditions: The Zoo hosts programs in all weather. Please make sure all participants (adults and children) are dressed appropriately for the weather. While education programs typically take place under our tents, other areas are not necessarily covered. If there is a school cancellation, please make sure to reach out to The Zoo ahead of time to cancel or reschedule your programs at 561-733-2251.
