Severe Macaw

Monkey came to The Zoo in 2014 with his friend, Apollo, a Moluccan cockatoo. They are different species, but have formed a close bond.

Diet
Seeds, nuts, fruits, and leafy greens.

Severe macaws make their nests in the holes of trees, and usually lay a clutch of 2-3 white eggs.

The severe macaw, also known as the chestnut-fronted macaw, is likely threatened by habitat loss and degradation. Their population is decreasing in the wild.
