Zoo School 

Zoo School serves children ages 6 to 12. Participants will have a unique opportunity to experience The Zoo with a Zoo educator by their side! These 1-hour programs offer children a chance to interact closely with a variety of zoo ambassador animals while also participating in The Zoo's two-time national-award-winning Kids Go Wild curriculum. Each session includes a STEAM activity that meet Massachusetts state education standards in literacy, science, math, engineering or art.

Cost
Members: $30 per person/per program OR $120 for all 4 programs/per person ($10 discount)
Nonmembers: Members: $35 per person/per program OR $130 for all 4 programs/per person ($10 discount)
Minimum enrollment: 5 participants
Maximum enrollment: 10 participants

 

Session dates and topics:

10/11 (10:30-11:30)
Adaptations - how do animals survive in their natural habitats? How do we enocourage these natural behaviors at The Zoo? What is special about our animal ambassadors? Find out during this program!

10/27 (10:30-11:30)
Herbivores, Omnivores and Carnivores - learn the differences between these 3 types of animals and meet one of each while at The Zoo!

11/1 (10:30-11:30)
Theatre in the Science Classroom - participants will learn theatre and literature terms to help create a unique piece of theatre art. The activity concludes with a chance to share their work with the group. 

11/10 (10:30-11:30)
Winter Changes - how do different animals prepare for winter? Who truly hibernates? What is brumation? Learn all this an more during this program!

Important Information:

  • These programs require pre-registration. Paperwork and payment are needed by 5 p.m. the Thursday prior to the requested session(s).

  • Refunds will not be processed without a note from a medical professional stating a medical reason for exemption. 

  • We will be outside for the duration of the program – please make sure all participants are prepared for the weather.

  • Transportation is not available to or from the Zoo School Group Class program.

  • In the case of inclement weather, every effort will be made to reschedule the program; session dates may be switched only if there is room to accommodate additional guests on the requested date.
