Facilities Manager
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative maintenance and repair of buildings, exhibits, equipment, fences and general physical facilities
- Modification of existing exhibits, and construction/design of new exhibits
- Maintenance and landscaping of green spaces inside The Zoo
- Ability to assist with other trade skills in the areas of HVAC, welding, carpentry and/or masonry
- Use of power and hand tools including, but not limited to, saws, drills, planers and ladders
- Ability to meet maintenance deadlines and work in a team environment as well as independently with minimum supervision
- Ability to work in indoor or outdoor environments, in all weather
- Perform physical labor as defined by the projects at hand
- Follow all safety protocol associated with performing assigned tasks
- Operate two-way radio responsibly and professionally
- Participate in all safety trainings organized by Zoo staff
- Manage snow removal and mowing duties
- Assist in supply pick ups and other errands
- Complete all required paperwork
- Communicate in a professional manner with all Zoo guests and employees
- Other duties, as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent experience
- A minimum of 1 year experience in construction/facility maintenance
- Experience working with animals preferred, but not required
- Ability to multi-task
- Extraordinary attention to detail
- A self-starter willing to take initiative
- Ability to engage with the public and effectively share information
- Willingness and ability to work varied hours when required
