Facilities Manager

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventative maintenance and repair of buildings, exhibits, equipment, fences and general physical facilities
  • Modification of existing exhibits, and construction/design of new exhibits
  • Maintenance and landscaping of green spaces inside The Zoo
  • Ability to assist with other trade skills in the areas of HVAC, welding, carpentry and/or masonry
  • Use of power and hand tools including, but not limited to, saws, drills, planers and ladders
  • Ability to meet maintenance deadlines and work in a team environment as well as independently with minimum supervision
  • Ability to work in indoor or outdoor environments, in all weather
  • Perform physical labor as defined by the projects at hand
  • Follow all safety protocol associated with performing assigned tasks
  • Operate two-way radio responsibly and professionally
  • Participate in all safety trainings organized by Zoo staff
  • Manage snow removal and mowing duties
  • Assist in supply pick ups and other errands
  • Complete all required paperwork
  • Communicate in a professional manner with all Zoo guests and employees
  • Other duties, as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of 1 year experience in construction/facility maintenance
  • Experience working with animals preferred, but not required
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Extraordinary attention to detail
  • A self-starter willing to take initiative
  • Ability to engage with the public and effectively share information
  • Willingness and ability to work varied hours when required
