The Zoo in Forest Park, located in Springfield, Mass., is hiring part-time, seasonal customer service staff for the Ticket Booth and Gift Shop. The Zoo is open from the end of March through October. These positions would work scheduled days from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Students and those seeking part-time summer employment are encouraged to apply.

Job Responsibilities

  • Greet guests in a friendly and polite manner
  • Learn about the animals within our facility and our general operation to answer common guest questions
  • Manage the point-of-sale system
  • Handle money and process credit cards with accuracy and proper recordkeeping
  • Basic inventory management
  • Ensure guests are following all Zoo rules

Job Requirements

  • A high level of verbal communication skills
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Punctuality
  • Availability: we are open 7 days a week in the summer months. At least one day of weekend availability is required.
  • Prior customer service experience preferred

Salary: $15.00 per hour

Customer Service Key Holder 

The Zoo in Forest Park, located in Springfield, Mass., is hiring a part-time, seasonal development associate. In addition to filling a customer service role in the Ticket Booth and Gift Shop, this job entails managing the Ticket Booth and Gift Shop operations on Sundays and administrative duties related to development. The Zoo is open from the end of March through October. This position would work scheduled days from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., including Sundays. Students and those seeking part-time summer employment are encouraged to apply.

Job Responsibilities

  • Greet guests in a friendly and polite manner
  • Learn about the animals within our facility and our general operation to answer common guest questions
  • Manage the point-of-sale system and help employees troubleshoot when needed
  • Handle cash and process credit cards with accuracy and proper recordkeeping
  • Basic inventory management and completion of end-of-day sales reports
  • Enforce all Zoo rules
  • Handle customer concerns
  • Process memberships and donations using Little Green Light
  • Respond to donation requests
  • Assist with special events as needed
  • Cover lunch breaks for customer service associates in Ticket Booth/Gift Shop
  • Complete other tasks as assigned by the Development Team and Education Team
