Beginning Monday, April 29, the City of Springfield is closing the Sumner Avenue entrance to Forest Park to repair a collapsed culvert at Swan Pond. To reach The Zoo, guests will need to use a new entrance that has been created on Trafton Road (near the Cyr Arena) or the entrance on Route 5 (alongside the Picknelly Baseball Fields on the Longmeadow side). The city expects the project to continue through the summer, with a Nov. 1 completion date.
